about us

Mission Statement:

The Children’s Charity of Greater Binghamton was formed for the charitable purpose of providing the tools and resources to help children, in the Greater Binghamton area, develop emotionally, physically, and socially as they grow into young adults.

It is our goal to reach out to all youth, especially those whose families are not in the position to provide the fundamentals, necessities and little extras of a happy childhood.

The ability to grow and develop into a healthy adolescence and adulthood is not a luxury, but a fundamental right of every child, no matter the family’s economic circumstances.

ABOUT US:

Children are our nation’s most valuable resources. Today’s children are tomorrow’s leaders.

More than 16 million American children live in poverty.  In New York State, approximately 14% of families live below the poverty level.  And in the Binghamton-area, a shocking 32.7% of families live below the poverty level.

These economic circumstances create extremely low self-esteem for children, and can lead to little or no hope for the future.

Each child has a choice of two paths to the future. One path leads to a productive life as an asset to the community. The other path leads to a life of dependency on the community for support. Without outside help, the path of least resistance is too often the path to a life of dependency.

The critical social issue is the identification and pursuit of programs, which will create or raise the self-esteem of children, give them hope for the future and help steer them toward productive lives.

The Children’s Charity of Greater Binghamton is a not-for-profit, charitable organization formed under Section 501(c)3 of the U.S. Internal Revenue Code.

Donations to the Children’s Charity of Greater Binghamton are tax-deductible as charitable contributions for US federal income tax purposes.
